Inspiring Faces – Oded Fehr

I love the Mummy movies. This is the best character in them. Oded Fehr has inspired more than one character of mine with his portrayal of this desert character. Just look at him. Soooo cool. When you read an Angela Cameron vampire novel, you’ll probably notice a character that’s very similar to him.

Inspiring Faces – Michael Fassbender

Okay, so I’m a huge fan of the movie 300…and not just for the abs. It’s a wonderful story. My favorite scene is where the two warriors, including Stelios (Fassbender), go out ahead of the group, playfully slaughtering the invaders. I won’t spoil it, but I will say that it is a fantastically choreographed fight scene. True warriors in action. I’ve watched this scene over and over on my Blue Ray copy just to see the fighting.
And so, I owe the inspiration of a character that I haven’t written the story to yet–to Fassbender’s portrayal of Stelios in 300.

Inspiring Faces – Rob Pattinson

I’m not blind to the faults of others. As a visual artist, I see tiny flaws in faces that others might overlook, which makes me very finicky. As a writer, I see many of these flaws as characteristics. This week’s inspiring face has a very unique look that lies somewhere between disheveled and polished…but both at the same time. His face has a strange symmetry to it that appeals to the portrait artist in me and has nothing to do with his popularity in Twilight or Harry Potter.  Still, I’m sure the Twilight fans will be thrilled to see him featured this week. The picture below is my favorite to date. I love the monochromed color scheme, composition, and  clean lines of his face matched up with the crisp clothing. I plan to do a sketch of this one for my private collection. Enjoy and let me know what you think is appealing about the photo.

Hump-day Hottie – Luke Goss

I’m going to do something a little different. Each wednesday, I’m going to feature a hottie for the writers seeking inspiration and those who just like to look at nice bodies. This week, I’m picking another of my crushes. Yes, I’ve used him as a model for another of my vampire hero characters. But first, let me tell you something that I discovered

about the actor while looking for a picture.

For one, he’s not afraid to be honest. According to shocktillyoudrop.com’s 2007 article, Goss said, “[L.A.] is actually my home now…You get so caught up in people thinking, ‘You love L.A.? You must be a flaky, lightweight whatever.’ I’ve met some of the nicest people in the world here, so stereotypes can kiss my ass.” Ha! I love it.

I went on to find out that he was a rocker in the UK. Well, that’s one more thing he’s got in common with the character I modeled after him. But then he answered another question to Shock by saying, “It is and people who think it’s corny or trite or something, well, God bless ’em and f**k them! [laughs]” Well, that does it–that is mycharacter. It’s exactly like something he’d say.

And then I found out that he’s in a vampire movie (The Dead Undead)! Yay! I have got to see it now. If the book I wrote that he was the inspiration for the character in ever gets optioned for a movie, he’s got to play the part.

 Now, on to the picture…
