I’m a sucker for a man with a sense of humor and a Scottish accent. In what may be my new favorite movie, the endearing Gerry, played by Gerard Butler, does this amazing, light hearted strip tease for his wife, Holly. (see clip at this link)
This isn’t a new concept, I know, but it was still the perfect beginning to the movie, P.S. I Love You, which was the best romantic movie I’ve seen since The Notebook. The character Gerry won my heart in two scenes flat. I hope I can create characters this great!
Plus, the friends remind me of my two best friends. Lisa Kudrow and Gina Gershon were great. In fact, the character Holly, played by Hilary Swank, was someone I can completely relate to on many levels. I was engrossed in the movie. Honestly, I don’t cry at movies often, but this one made me cry and laugh—and then cry while laughing, which I wasn’t exactly sure was possible until last night.
I don’t want to give anything away, so I’ll shut up soon. I just really can’t say enough great things about it. If you’re into romantic comedies, you can’t miss this one! It’s going in my video library.
